Hi, I’m Billy.
I’ve been building software since 2005. I started out doing websites and IT for local businesses, then moved into custom development when clients kept asking for tools that didn’t exist yet. Data Bytes is the result — a small consultancy where the person you talk to is also the person writing the code.
Most small businesses don’t need an agency. They need someone who’ll listen, scope the work honestly, build the right thing, and stay around to fix or extend it later. That’s what I do — websites, custom web apps, and internal IT systems for businesses that are too small for an enterprise vendor and too serious for off-the-shelf tools.
Everything I build is hosted in Canada, supported by me directly, and designed to keep working long after launch. No outsourced support tier, no surprise renewal fees, no abandoned projects.

A short list, but I take all of these seriously.
Honest scoping
If your project is bigger than it sounds, I’ll tell you. If a plugin can do the job for $30, I’ll recommend that instead of building from scratch.
One person, real accountability
You’re not getting passed between sales, project managers, and offshore developers. The person who quotes the work is the same person who builds it and supports it.
Canadian by default
Hosting in Canadian data centres. Support during Canadian hours. Pricing in Canadian dollars. Less paperwork for you, less risk in your supply chain.
